Typescript copy of Captain Medorem Crawford's journal, kept while accompanying Dr. Elijah White from Havana, New York (March 17, 1842) to the Willamette River, Oregon (October 3, 1842). Journal contains accounting of miles traveled and expenses; describes alarming number of buffalo that impede travel and the accidential death of man named Lovejoy.

Oregon legislator (1847-1849; 1860); federal collector of internal revenue (1864-1869) and appraiser of customs (1871-1875).
